Joy... NOT!

Woke up yesterday, and just knew it was going to be a bad day. How? Well, waking up with a headache, centered around the forehead and the eyes are a sure indicator that my sinuses are acting up. And sure thing, fever sets in about an hour after I get to work. I didn't go home, as I was the designated coach for the last hour of work. Result is, today I feel like shit!

I haven't posted in a while, so let me catch you up...

February 28, I get a message from our Business Manager that I'm heading to the 'other' call center. Which is cool, I asked to be moved along with Retailers support. Only two of the people in that group wanted to go, so I asked to be included.

March 2 I'm told that I'm to pack up my equipment at the end of the day. They don't have the kind of keyboard that I've been given (due to my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome), and that I was also to bring my 'Mousetrapper', which is a cool device that let's me work without the use of a conventional mouse.

Monday, March 5. We're at 'the other call center'. Same firm, two call centers - and this one is a five minute walk from my mom's apartment building.

So far, we only deal with business clients, no private customers, they get sent over to customer support at the old center. We deal with business clients, only!

No retailer's support, as of yet. Now they're not even sure if it's to be moved. I no longer care. I love it at the 'new' place, which actually was the first call center they had.

Three of us are delegated to be coaches for the six newcomers. Two of us have been put into shifts with two newcomers, and the third is in a shift with one of them. It's all day work, two shifts start at 7:45 am, and work until 4:05 pm, and the third shift comes in at 9:45 am and goes until 5:05 pm. We have a three week rotation. Two weeks we start at 7:45 am and the third week we're in at 9:45. No weekend work, no evenings... It's heaven!

Also, the three of us are hardly on the phones as we need to be available to coach the newbies. Bliss!

The three of us came to work Friday last week and found tiny little flowerpots on our places. The newbies had gotten us flowers to thank us for our patience and our support of their efforts. It was really sweet.

Another bonus is that I now have a ten minute drive to get to work, as opposed to the 30 - 40 minute drive of earlier. Why the variable? Roadworks! They're a pain and they'll be going on for a few more years.

It's a more relaxed atmosphere at the new place. Less stress, less nagging from team-leaders etc. Our new team-leaders are relaxed. All female, and nowhere to be found when you need 'em ;o). Not too bad, either you go hunt 'em down, or you wait for them to return. No big. See? Relaxed! We could never do that at the old place. Team-leaders disappearing at the old place, if you waited for their return, they'd be pissy about it. I love it at the new place!

Spring arrived with a 'bang' two weeks ago. Lot's of sunshine, warmer weather... Life's good again... until a sinus infection ruins my weekend!

The coming week is a bonus, what with Easter we'll only work three days, then go on to have a five day weekend! Lovely!
