The Empress' New Toy

The Empress got a new toy, this week. A Dream Catcher for cats.

It took her all of two hours to decide to chew through the string holding it.

As it turned out, she loves playing with feathers - my own Dream Catcher being evidence with it's missing feathers, but the real attraction was the actual string! I know, I have a weird cat...

Ignore my messy desk in the background, and behold the Kitty Dream Catcher!

Ah, what's this? ::Nibble, Nibble::

::Munch, munch:: A little dry, but sure tickles the taste buds!

Hey! No fair, get back down here so I can devour you!

Gotcha!

Well, the string's been re-attached, and the Dream Catcher lives on. The string is getting a little worn from excessive chewing, but - fortunately - it's a long string, so I can keep re-attaching it as she gets through.

I believe I have mentioned before, how rules doesn't apply to the Empress;

* Catnip? Never heard of it!
- Spray form; 'This works on 80 % of the cats it's been tested on!' Well, they forgot to tell Ylva about that survey. She was not impressed.

- Dried form; 'This works on even the cats that were unresponsive to the spray!' Again, No one told Ylva. She remains unimpressed!

* Cats land on their feet!
- Huh? What's that? Someone forgot to give Ylva a copy of the rulebook for cats, as she lands on her back, her head or her tail... Oh, and once in a while - if the descent is planned - on her feet.

* Cats are light footed.
- ::THUD!:: What was that? I didn't hear you over the sounds of Ylva jumping down from the desk!

* Cats are cleanliness personified!
- Eh, I'd like to take a picture of her eating place, but I'm afraid you'd faint... She takes her food out of her plate, and sends it all over the place. Also, she's very good at lifting the carpet up and pushing her dry food underneath it. Makes all sorts of funny, crunching noises as I walk over it.

This reminds me that I need to get the vacuum cleaner out. She's been at it again, and now it's almost like getting a foot massage walking over the carpet in the hallway.

This is not a DVD, what is it doing here? Better get rid of it!

Has it really been...

... more than a freaking month, since I posted anything?

Sorry about that.

So, what's been going on around me lately? Not a whole lot, to be truthful.

My partner in crime (y'know, Kiri?), dropped off the face of the earth without notice. I waited, patiently for her return, figuring she was up to her eyeballs in work. Turns out her tower at work died on her, and her boss promptly sent her home on an unpaid vacation. How stupid is that?

Seems to me, every time something goes wrong at their office, he blames poor Kiri... and she's the only one actually doing her job around there!

She was back briefly yesterday, on AIM, after I had sent an email to her cellphone, Wednesday evening (my time). Seeing as The Empress Ylva of Bulldozers had been forthcoming and actually posed for a whole of twenty seconds, I sent her some new pictures to cheer her up.

On my end, things are going good. Still loving the new environment at work.

We, of the cellular solutions knowledge, are now also getting fixed line solution calls. This after getting a day's worth of training. Not that it gave us much knowledge, so we're forced to 'fake' it. I keep telling the customers "I'll look into that and call you back, shortly!" Then I head over to one of the Fixed Line guys and pester him with questions. Getting the answer from him, I call the customer back and present the solution to his or her problem. Yep, I'm faking it!

We're also to be given training in ADSL solutions, I hope that'll be more than one day. The fixed line and ADSL people were sent for training on cellular solutions, last week, they were given four and a half days worth of training. Not fair! We got a day and are expected to know everything we need for any calls coming in on fixed lines, while they got four and a half days? I just keep faking it, and agree with the rest of 'my' unit, that we know zip about this, but will do our best.

The Empress has been through her first 'heat'. No fun, serenading all night - snoozing all day, going nuts whenever the Forest cat boy from the next building were sitting outside our kitchen window... Ok, I get that she wanted to get to know him, he's a good looking cat with his turtle markings and all... but trying to claw her way through the window glass? ::Shakes head::

Here she is. She agreed to pose for all of twenty seconds. And this is the best picture I managed to snap, last Wednesday.

She kept me awake, most of last night. Not due to being in season, but because she was bored and wanted me to come out of my bedroom and play with her. I mean, who needs sleep, right? Better to play with The Empress, who has no problems sleeping through the day, if she so chooses. It's not like I need any sleep at all...

I have come to the conclusion that it's better to use the video function on my phone, rather than snapping stills of her. With the video function, I can just keep her in line of sight regardless of what she does. I haven't figured out how to put videos up here, though, perhaps we can swing that on the website, if we ever get going on it...
