Saturday Morning Reflections
Apparently, no one had anything to say about my performance, in the face of, apparently, unbeatable odds. I worked my ass (and arms) off, and they knew it!
I was fortunate enough to be allowed to hide under my headphones, with my own choice of music blaring in my ears. Thursday was all Korn, Friday was a little bit of Korn and a whole lot of BLS. Yep, I love working with music in my ears. I work faster, I'm not bothered by chatter around me and the only thing I have to fight is the urge to get up and dance...
The other veteran was back at work, yesterday, meaning I had a normal day again. It was heavenly! I only had my own shit to worry about, as he was up to his eyeballs in his, as usual. I still had to take whatever came form the main office, though, as he was pressed enough for time. Thankfully, it was only one case that required my attention, so it was dealt with accordingly.
Kiri was extremely quiet yesterday. But then, so was I. I opted not to bug her too much, and wound up not bugging her at all. See? I can be quiet and considerate!
Today, I plan on staying off the computer, mostly anyway. I have a load of new DVD's that's been begging for my attention. I'm gonna have to answer that call and declare a movie marathon, of sorts. I'll just have to step outside and get some more Ginger Ale (only sugary beverage I drink) and a new batch of microwave popcorn... Preferably buttered! I'm already set with chocolate...
I know I'm gonna be watching the Transformers movie. Also I should probably watch Extreme Justice, as I had a hard enough time hunting it down. Even harder to Find was Striking Range, had to get them both from the US. Thank the makers of zone free DVD players! Or in my case, Harman/Kardon. Punch in a code and off we go on zone 1 movies, punch the code in again, we're off on zone 2 (Europe) movies. I love my DVD player, it's old and trustworthy. This is the first DVD player I bought, and I dread ever having to replace it. It's a player, not a recorder, so in that respect, I'm way behind the rest of the DVD world. I'm still happy with the quality of sound and picture it offers, so until it goes on the fritz, it stays where it is!
It started raining yesterday, just a light drizzle. It must have intensified during the night, because there's no trace of snow any longer. I'm not complaining. The snow came late, and had everyone groaning. We were so ready for Springtime, it was almost ridiculous. It's still raining, though...
My arms are still angry with me for the punishment I put them through this week at work. Another good reason to stay off the computer today.

Sounds like a productive weekend. How are your arms?
How were the movies?
Arms are still sore. Had to buy a new wrist brace as the old one is kinda ratty now.
Movies were good, the ones that I watched. Transformers were better on my 32" TV screen than my 19" computer screen. Didn't get around to Extreme Justice like I planned, though.
Watched Reign of Fire again, dragons! Yay! They weren't the heroes, though. Sadly, they were very mean!
Watched season two of Buffy. I was more a fan of the Willow/Oz pairing, than any other pairing they stuck her in. Tara was a nice partner, but Oz ruled! Kennedy was just... Ick!
Popcorn was tasty, but when isn't it? Oh, and Crème Brûlee ice creme... Yummie!
Ice cream? ::coos:: I'll be stopping on the way home for some of that. Not Creme Brulee, just a lovely vanilla or rich chocolate. Or I'll blow big cash and go to Coldstone and buy a Coffee Lover's Only. With half of the ice cream being chocolate. Yum.
Oh, good to hear that you have a new brace. That'll help. Dragons? Giant worms/snakes more like it. Transformers... Bumblebee rules. Omptimus Prime was cool sounding but was having his metal backside handed to him by Megatron.
Still liked Ironhide and Ratchet...
Humor is always good. Starscream was disappointing! Cartoony Starscream was so much more conniving and sleazy... oh, and ambitious! Movie Starscream was a letdown, to be honest.
Oh, I have chocolate ice creme too... The Crème Brûlee was something I decided to try on a whim... color me astonished that it was delish!
Yeah, you don't realize that he's a boot-licking toady who wants the boss dead in this movie. You'd have to have seen the teaser mini-comic they released to see his avarice.
"That's gonna rust."
"Oh, tingly. You gotta try that."
Oh, the power lines, you lost me for split second in the 'tingly'.
I kinda liked the retort... 'Yeah, right!'
I was also disappointed about Bumble's voice, too flat and moderated. You're not alone in that regard.
Optimus having his metal backside handed to him was a given, btw. He was concerned about the fragile humans whereas Megatron was... not so much. Optimus pulled off some fancy moves and footwork to keep debris from falling on the civvies, props for that!
Yeah, I expected a younger/edgier voice for Bumblebee. I got an English gentleman in my opinion.
Optimus was doing some great moves to protect the fleshlings. What about how they just went "aw, poor Jazz... okay, thanks for your help humans." Zero grief. Just a mild regret, if even. And little Jazz tried to shield the running humans from Megatron. Hello? Hero?
'Want a piece of me? You want a piece of me???'
'No! I want two!'
Aw crap, poor Jazz. Feisty little thing, wasn't he?
Bumble loosing the lower parts of his legs while shielding the fleshlings with a truck. Ratchet somehow escaped that kind of injury.
I think there was grief for Jazz, but the kind of grief that soldiers show in public after a hard confrontation. They were soldiers, after all. Ratchet words kinda drilled that home; 'I couldn't save him, Optimus.'
About Bumblebee's lower legs. I rewatched that scene. Bumblebee was standing behind the truck slightly. Ratchet was more to the side.
I think it was "We couldn't save him" rather than "I".
I loved the whole "I'm not leaving you" scene.
Plus her looking back over her shoulder and having Bumblebee give her that "it's ok" kind of nod. He so totally understood where she was in that moment and gave her that little nudge she needed to move past it.
Yep! 'I drive, you shoot!' Classic one-liner!
You may be right on the 'we' and nor 'I', keep in mind, I was in a sleepy stupor, having only just rolled outta bed!
All's good then.
I love how expressive they made the faces. Plus Optimus Prime's 'mouth' and the metal 'audio output' pattern where his teeth would be. Check it out again. It's really weird, neat.
All is good. I might have to do that, but not today. Found a new story over at TtH, I'm still loving that place...
LOL - It's too dangerous for me to read that stuff at work. I'd lose hours... with people standing there tapping my shoulder.
Aha! So you did go check it out, like I told you to!
The Year In The Life series rules, doesn't it?
No comment. No comment. I'm at work. Plus, I'd like plausible deniability.
::zips lips::
Aw,come on. You know you want to, just admit it! I found a cool hang-out place for the lovers of the written word!
Please see the aforementioned disclaimer.
Wuss! LMAO
Wuss? Nah, just gainfully employed and desperate to stay that way.
Admitting you're enjoying something on your own time, shouldn't jeopardize your employment!
LOL - I never remember to go once I'm home.
Well, you don't need to tell anyone that! ::Sheesh:: I thought I'd trained you better...
